Sari Silk Plain Knit Scarf
The soft colours of these sari silk scarves are just beautiful
These Nepalese silk scarves are just a joy to wear,
especially during those cool to freezing winter months
all the different styles give a lovely warmth to the wearer.
These scarves are made from recycled sari-silk yarn
handspun by ladies in Nepal, giving each scarf a unique
blend of colours and textures.
Care of silk scarf:
Always wash your garment by hand, using warm water. If the water is too hot, the wool will shrink or felt, if too damaged it is impossible to repair.
As a general rule, if the water is too hot for your hand then it is much too hot for your scarf!
Use a specialist wool cleanser, liquid soap or soap flakes that have been thoroughly dissolved. Regular laundry detergents are too harsh and may affect the colour of your garment.
Even using soap, some colour may run, but the colour is retained,
so wash your garment separately from other items.
Do not vigorously rub or wring your garment.
Let it soak for a short while and then gently squeeze and pat it until it is clean.
Rinse thoroughly in cold water until all the soap has been removed.
Gently squeeze out the excess water, this can be done by rolling the garment in towels, and dry flat.
Personally I would not over wash a sari or pure silk scarf, the only time it would be necessary is when something is spilled on the scarf, heavy dirt has gotten into the scarf or you feel it needs a freshen up.
Even though the silk is delicate they can take tough handling, just be careful about snagging the yarn on sharp objects.
